Rj Cloud is the founder of Cloud Microphones and the co-inventor of the iconic Cloudlifter and the Cloud Microphone’s line of ribbons. He has been creating music for decades, and now it’s time. The songs are now going to be available on all streaming platforms and  you can catch his live rock concerts in various forms, including his current bands, Electric Roadman and CloudPainter.

Electric Roadman is the new project tying together a catalog of music written by Rj  that incorporates a soundtrack to a new soon to be released rock musical! It brings the listener on a journey with a young man, who feeling alone and alien, sets out on a spiritual quest to the Sonoran desert of Tucson. His psychedelic and musical adventures bring him to the peyote road. The fun, psychedelic rock songs weave the sacred sound vibrations of the water drum and the peyote gourd, and ancient melodic themes of songs from tipi ceremonies of the Native American Church.

CloudPainter is the musical collective led by Liz Painter and RJ Cloud. CloudPainter’s live show has a melodic jam band vibe with a blend of rootsy modern and southern rock, R&B and eclectic psychedelic era influences that is more Arizona than deep south. Liz and RJ’s vocal harmonies lead the way with catchy hooks and relatable emotional authenticity. Euphoric grooves hint of vintage R&B. CloudPainter’s sound has been compared to Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, REM, and Pink Floyd. Their music is available to listen to and download online with a pipeline of songs in the queue for release in 2026 mixed by Bob Horn, and brought to life with an amazing team at Cloud Microphone’s Recording Studio.

To create their authentic, human sound, they record at 96 kilohertz and they use an epic microphone collection and a Rupert Neve mixing console, to capture the richness and true emotion inherent in their music. With a Hammond B3 organ, a Wurlitzer 140b, and a massive collection of vintage instruments and amps.

Rj Cloud’s passion to capture the true essence and emotion of music drove him to start Cloud Microphones and develop world renowned ribbon mics. His inventions, including the iconic Cloudlifter, have empowered countless musicians around the world with the ability to easily capture clean and professional-sounding audio, with even the most basic equipment.

RJ has built custom microphones for artists such as Stevie Wonder, Donald Fagen, Elvis Costello, Sean Lennon, Nick Mason, and Lucuis, just to name a few.

Cloud Microphones has been honored with many accolades, including several NAMM TEC nominations, Musikmesse International Press Award, and Editors Choice Awards for modern ribbon microphones and Cloudlifter products.

Cloud’s visionary work in the field of audio has created economic growth through his commitment to local manufacturing in Arizona and on the Navajo Nation, the largest Native American reservation in the United States. In recognition of Cloud Microphones “significant” contribution to the expansion of the US exports, Cloud has been awarded two Presidential Awards, the “E” Award in 2012 and the “E Star” award in 2021 from the Obama and Biden Administrations respectively.
